About the song

A Rhythm Larger Than Us

“The Song the Ocean Sings” presents the ocean as one of Kæthiar’s great shared voices: something larger than borders, status, competition or individual ownership. The sea belongs to everyone and to no one, and its rhythm offers an image of a common experience that does not require people to become alike.

“No more winners, no more kings / Just the song the ocean sings” does not describe a world without social organization or responsible leadership. It contrasts competition, hierarchy and domination with something that cannot recognize those distinctions. The ocean does not choose winners, draw borders or distinguish one person’s status from another’s. Everyone encounters the same water and hears the same rhythm.

“Step away from the iron and stone” and “No more wires, no more clocks” continue the album’s invitation to let artificial structures recede temporarily from the foreground. This is not a rejection of civilization or technology. It is a return of attention to what is immediate and elemental: water, salt, rock, sky, touch and human presence. The reference to clocks adds an important dimension: for a moment, life can follow the rhythm of the tide instead of the rhythm of a schedule.

When the song asks us to “hear the breath of the tide,” nature stops functioning merely as scenery and becomes a perceived presence. The ocean breathes and sings metaphorically because, once other noise recedes, people begin to notice rhythms that were always there.

The multilingual welcomes — Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian — act as different entrances into the same home. Kæthiar does not ask the world to learn one language; it welcomes the world in many. Cultural and linguistic difference remains, while every greeting opens onto the same shared experience.

“The wooden drum is my heart” connects three fundamental rhythms: heartbeat, drumbeat and ocean rhythm. The body, music and nature become different expressions of the same symbolic pulse. “Hand in hand, skin on skin” extends this idea into human relationships, making connection immediate and physical rather than mediated: hands, skin, wood, salt and water replace distance with presence.

“A summer that will never end” is emotional rather than meteorological. Summer represents warmth, openness, freedom and a moment of shared joy that nobody wants to end.

Ultimately, the song imagines unity not as something imposed from above, but as something people can discover by listening to a rhythm that was never owned by anyone in the first place.

The ocean has no borders, and its song belongs to everyone.

Verse 1

Step away from the iron and stone

Where the emerald water meets the land
I will take you by the hand
No more wires, no more clocks
Only salt upon the rocks
Hear the breath of the tide
Open up your heart inside

Kæthiar! (Kæthiar!)
The rhythm is burning like fire
Bienvenido, take it higher

Verse 2

Underneath the open sky
We don't need a reason why
No more winners, no more kings
Just the song the ocean sings
Hand in hand, skin on skin
This is where the joy begins
Every face is a friend
On a summer that will never end
